You won't change my mind LM, I won't ever buy from Ritz on GP. I've contacted AAFES to see if we can get a partnership w/ B&H or Adorama, etc. No response yet. But I don't expect them to care because they charge $1219 for a gray market 24-105. I like B&H's prices so I buy from them, never let me down.

LOL I'm not trying to convince you either way, brother. I could care less who you or anybody else decides to fork over their hard earned dollars to. I'm just putting information out there so that military members dying to get their hands on a brand new 40D can take advantage of this and get a pretty good deal. Older equipment? I agree. Forget about it! As I stated, I don't normally do business with Ritz, but I do take advantage of opportunities like this when it presents itself. ;)

And although I would love AAFES to partner up with B&H, Beach Camera, Adorama, etc. I can almost guarantee it will never happen. AAFES is all about making money despite their claims to the contrary. And they will partner up with any company as greedy as they are since they seem to think that most military members are not smart consumers and don't shop around or do research. Just my opinion though. ;)

Just to add to this thread...I too bought the 40D with the kit lense , a filter, and Lexar 8gb memory from the Ritz site thru AAFES. The 40d and lense came to 1424...I did not get the 100mm macro I am considering thru them because they are much higher than even Amazon. But I think it is a great price for the camera and lense...best deal I have seen.

Alright I'll shut up now. I always get a little pissed when people give money to Ritz.

OK, I will order from Wolf Camera instead. For some reason, they have a deal (free shipping) like Ritz's.

I pre-ordered mine about the same time Amazon had announced they were accepting pre-orders. I just happened to log onto RitzCameraGov to see if they were accepting pre-orders and low and behold they were. So I went ahead and pre-ordered, and despite all you hear about them charging your card before the actual item is shipped, I can say in all honesty that it hasn't happened to me. Right around the time folks started reporting that the 40D was showing up as "In Stock" and "Now Shipping" at other popular on-line sites, again RitzCameraGov posted the same thing on their web site. That occured the week before Labor Day weekend. I received an email from RitzCameraGov on Saturday, Labor Day weekend, informing me that my body was "In Stock" and will be shipped to me soon. I got my 40D the following Thursday. ;)

Cool, I went ahead and ordered it. Once I get it in I plan on selling my 20D and Mac laptop.

Thanks again!

Just got off the phone w/ Ritz. I wanted to change the order so I could get the 28-135 body/lens combo. I was going to sell the lens for $200 to my sister. The sales agent on the phone said that they just got the shipment in and my camera should ship today or tomorrow. If I changed my order I'd have to wait 1-2 weeks as they don't have the body/lens combo in stock. Tough luck for my sister. :-(
