A 3 exposure HDR would have helped this one to prevent the blow-out in the sky. I've noticed it with some of my HDR sunsets as well. While the RAW files do have a lot of info in there, they still can't handle images with shadow and sun in a single exposure. As a result the single RAW HDRs tend to look great for the most part but give a bit of an artifact (blow-out) in the areas of the sky/clouds where the sun is. Nice pic though.

No, not from a single exposure, it was from a 5 shot bracket. I might of blown it out during PP after merging the files. Or that could just be the sun behind the clouds and the clouds are amplifying the suns light. I don't really do a single exposure shot and make my additional files from that, I usually take 3,5 or 7 shots. and merge in photomatix, then tweak in PC5 using a natural and a grunge version of the shot in layers overlaying them and playing with the blend modes. This helps things like tires and other black bits to look a little less gray, and helps the overall image, I think.
