Given the problems with the 1Dmk3, I would consider anyone pre-ordering a 1DsMk3 very brave.

Considering that Canon's "fix" is official for the 1D3, I wouldn't hesitate. I might wait just to see if my 1D3 which is at Canon right now hasn't made things worse. But in my needs, I hardly ever use SERVO, but my 1D3 never exhibited any problems anyway.

The 1Ds3 is using a much larger mirror and mirror-assembly, so unless Canon has not tested the AF with it, I don't think it will have the same problems. If it does use the same type of parts, they will most likely have fixed it. Canon won't mess up 2 TOP cameras right in a row.

I pre ordered, then cancelled when I heard the ef 200 f2 was on it's way. Nice as it would be, I realised the lens would give me better results (no ISO 6400? what's that about?) than the Ds 3 at night games.

Yes ,I am looking at the 200 f2 as well as the 1Ds MKIII. That 200mm looks sweet.

No bravery involved, there is a warrenty and if something goes wrong canon will sort it out. :)

I hope we all know in the next 2-3 weeks... Somehow I doubt it though. I bet few if any are shipping mid November. Maybe I will be wrong...

I pre-ordered from Adorama. B&H isn't taking pre-orders, so... they loose the sale.
I'll be selling my 1D MIII, which has been great, and shown no signs of problems focusing at all. I'm anxious for 21MP!

Considering that Canon's "fix" is official for the 1D3,
It may be official but do you know anyone who has had their 1DMK3 fixed by Canon, and states it is problem free.

I plan on purchasing a 1Dmk3, but not until I am positive that the camera is free of problems.

Eventually I also plan on purchasing a 1Ds MK3, but I am willing to wait six or seven months.

This looks to be the case from what info I have gathered here in Japan.

I don't really care if they have fixed the problem or not, canon will look after its customers in the end. Its a completely new camera and there is bound to to be problems. The hardware and AF system is completely new and we have to remember that we all are still human, including the canon employees.

$7000 does make me a little pessimistic. I make a living with my photography. My free lance clients or the newspaper I work for don't care about my camera's warranty. They want assignments completed on time, and done right the first time. I feel the same way when I purchase a pro series camera. I want it free of defects.

I prefer to let the optimistic people like you test the camera, then post post your pessimistic reviews and complaints.

If you are a pro then you should not be relying on one camera, or is that a bad assumption? So then, a new camera comes out and it has a few bugs, sure the new camera is new technology, but you have made a living selling photos with your cameras before this new one was released right? So buying the new camera should not be that much of a big deal IMO. I mean, it is not like the camera is garrenteed to have function faults is it? If your unlucky and get a camera that does not work the way it should , ethn that is what the warrentee is for. ;)

BTW, I have had problems with lens and cameras before, I have asked for advise on if this was normal for that camera/lens ,but I will never whine and complain over me recieving a faulty peice of equipment. Canon has always rectified the problem in the past and I don't see what is different in the future.;)

Yes. I have several 1Dmk2s. You have your opinion, and I have mine. When I purchase equipment I expect it to work. Obviously you feel that if a product does not work then it is " optimistically" ok to have some defects. If that works for you then I am " optimistically" happy for you.

Sure you can take that stance, as I was "just" stateing an oppinion. But, don't get me wrong, I expect the equipment to work and do not expect the product I buy will have deffects ,however I don't go around like 3 year old and complain about it b/c the reality of the situation is that "people are only human". Suck it up and realise that this is the hand delt to you. (And I STRESS, I am not dirrecting these statements at you, more so generaly speaking)
