Wow this guy was tough. He bouncing from flower to flower quicker than I could move from spot to spot.

Not a bad effort for a first shot, but what spoils this shot is that you cannot see the insect's head, although I appreciate that it isn't easy when it's stuck inside a flower. Sometimes you have to just hold off for a second to wait until it lifts its head, try to anticipate where it'll go next, or wait until it alights on a flower that allows better photos. Butterflies are frequently creatures of habit, following established paths, and if you watch them you can sometimes sit and wait until they come to you. Keep trying; you're almost there. :)

Thanks. I have one shot where I was able to capture the head and it was out of focus. I never imagined the butterfly's movement as being so (seemingly) erractic and quick. It almost seemed like it was in a rush lol. Trying to capture it with it's wings spread seems to be even more of a challenge. I'm going back out to the garden this afternoon and hopefully he (she?) will be back.
