If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Like the landscape and the colors. How far away from the building and what was your focus point in order to get full DoF at f/6.3? I'm struggling with DoF at 100mm right now.

The building was about 200 meters away. I focused 20-30 meters in front of the house. The final picture is made of 4 frames in portrait orientation. Looking at the original frames the tree on the front right is not completely in focus, nor are the mountains in the background. But after stitching and resizing the result is acceptable for me. I took 3 different sets of pictures using other focus points but this came out the best of them. A smaller aperture would have helped but it was very early in the morning and I had no tripod so f6.3 and 1/125 sec was the limit for me.

Watt,
You have the sharpest 100-400 I have seen.
Im sure the 12mp of the xsi help with camera shake and light capturing too.
I wish the 7d was 15mp for that reason.

Are you shooting wide open or stopped down?

I think it's a Lilac-breasted Roller.

those were shot at f6.3
you can't crop as much with only 12 MPs!

You want less megapixels? To help with camera shake and light capturing?

I think you got it the wrong way around...

Cheers.
