So I haven't been using my 100-400 much lately and I'm thinking of selling it ..... crazy or good decision? lol

How about trying a 2x III TC with your 70-200 and if it works out sell the 100-400 or is that crazy too?

That is exactly what I was thinking :) But I don't find myself trying to reach more than 200mm lately (last 7-8 months!)

If you are not using it and can put the money to better use, whether on a different piece of gear, or just invest it somewhere, then I say do it. You can always pick up another copy later if you need it again. 100-400s are pretty readily available on the used market. I think it is one of those lenses that a lot of people get but after a short while, the size and weight gets to them and the lens ends up on the used market.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Yeah I just listed it for sale. I Love this lens I used to shoot a lot of planes but haven't done so in a while and it just sits.

While relaxing in the backyard looking for birds to photograph, there was a sudden movement of "something" swooping down across the yard, towards the back edge that borders a conservation area - all I saw was a light-colored blur out of the corner of my eye, bigger than a cat, smaller than a golden retriever, but definitely airborne, unlike most cats and dogs. :p All the birds that were nearby bolted in a flurry of flapping wings, away from the thing that swooped in. I was far too slow to use the camera and see the initial attack, but then a hawk comes suddenly off the ground at the edge of the woods with something in its talons. Might have been a small mammal (vole, mouse, baby squirrel).

I walked around to the other side of the yard where there a tree that hawks like to hang out in while scanning the grass for the next meal:

What are you looking at?

Anyway, the meal was not to be seen - must have escaped, the hawk couldn't have finished it in the time it took me to get across the yard, even if I was moving carefully to not alarm it.

And here is one of the birds that had visited earlier (but was long gone by the time the hawk attacked):
