Last one.

BTW, this picture was shot at the Head of the River Amstel race. This guy was the first to start, the water was allmost as flat as a mirror.
Conditions were really great that day, until so far 3 people orderd a 30x45 cm print, which I would not have expected :)

Since I seem to be addicted to Zoo trips lately I just ordered my copy of this lens - like I needed an excuse :-) Hopefully it will impress me as much as my 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS does all the time.

Can't wait to post some pics.

The 100-400L should absolutely blow you out of the water if you just moved up from a 70-300! When ya get it, let's see some shots!

Oh it will :)

There are few lenses that have impressed me like the 100-400 :)

And no 70-300s that came close

Well I already have an "L" Addiction, my collection includes the 70-200 f/2.8L IS which is awesome but just not long enough for me. So I'm sure that this will produce some impressive results, I just wonder how hard it is going to be to get used to the push / pull zoom compared to all of the others I have.

Coincidentally I am going to a local zoo tomorrow, hopefully Fed Ex shows up before I leave.

Just speaking for myself here, but I find the push-pull easier to use then the normal rotating zoom mechanisms.

Once you get used to it, you will find that the push pull is mandatory for the intended use of this lens, ie: fast paced shooting with a lightweight lens and changing focal length quickly while doing so.

No rotating zoom is as fast or intuitive to use after some practice.

Seconded, its a pro on this lens for most uses, not a con

And all the years of using it really helped me when I started learning the trombone.

LOL - Maybe we can rename it the Trombone instead of the dust pump :-)

As far as the push-pull, not only is it quite usable, but it really helps make this a usable walk-around lens. Just be sure to have your friction adjustment (whatever it's called) tight enough so it doesn't extend/retract on its own.

Interesting...

I actually took years of trombone in school so the 100-400 was completely intuitive! ;)
