cicopo Goldmember More info | Sep 06, 2007 21:39 | #6 Since my 40D is on order & not in my hands yet I can only speculate, but I do know the lens & the operator will have a far bigger effect on the output than any major difference between the 2 bodies or sensors. Good lenses, good technique, & a thorough understanding of photography & how your camera needs to be used have far more to do with the image you will get than simply buying the next new "super camera". You have a 30D and some good lenses, so can you get the most out of them or do you think a better body will make you a better photographer? Images from a 1Dmklln are extremely hard to tell from those a 20D produces all things being equal. The 1 series bodies however do have weather sealing (never been a problem so far for me, but it may become important some day) and better AF, which I can attest to from personal use, so if the very best AF system is important to you then go that route, but you can buy 2 40D's for the price of 1 1Dmklln (approximately). Watch the user reports before spending since it will take a few weeks for all the new owners to learn how they work, and how to best use the new features. Until then it's not easy to give a valid answer because it is too heavily slanted by hype. A skill is developed through constant practice with a passion to improve, not bought.

Especially considering I can sell my 1D for the price of two 40Ds new. The 40D is very comparable to the 1Dmk2 except for the AF, weathersealing, ergonomics and extra 2fps.
