Glad to hear it! I know I can't stop reading and rereading that blog, LordV also has some great tips and tricks for everyone here are the links he posted over in the Re: Macro exercises (thanks Brian) thread:

I know I can't thank them enough for putting all this information out there for all the rest of us.

The problem, as I see it, with the first image is:

1. Low light levels courtesy of fluro lights.
2. Probably an underexposed image (due to point 1), resulting in more noise in the image

It will take some practice to get used to focusing sharply with the tubes and the higher magnifications that they offer. Flash can help here, as can the others suggestions of stopping down some. As to AF, don't worry about it, few of us macroers actually use AF to get our shots, we generally manually focus.

Your 2nd set of shots look much better :) Welcome to a new world ;)

Thank you all for the comments and help. I just got a hot shoe cord and a Delta 7" fast flip bracket. No instructions included. Finally got it to work and am going to try with this set up.

This one at 33mm, flash pointed down more. No pp on any of them, directly from the camera, just converted to jpg and resized for posting.

My set up, will probably change the position of the flash but the bracket extension is hard to move and get into a better position.

Great stuff! The flash has to be one of my next buys. About how much would a setup like you show here cost?

I bought the flash used for $170.00
Kenko tubes B&H $169.00
Delta flip flash $38.95 + $8.26 shipping Amazon
RPS hot shoe cord $29.95 Amazon
Total $416.16

I didn't buy it all at once, started with the flash, then the tubes, etc.

The stem that the strange weed seeds are on is about 4 inches long. I thought they looked something like small apples!!
