I am a cycling photographer who has been using the 30D for the past 13 months. I've always had trouble getting a decent keeper rate and had very few shots that were "in perfect focus." I ditched my Sigma 70-200 and got a Canon 70-200L f/2.8 IS thinking the lens was the culprit. It was not. The 30D's AI Servo just was not able to keep up with the lenses or the action. I got a 40D yesterday and anxiously took it to my first cycling gig tonight. This camera is definitely a keeper. Out of 300 photos, about 15 were no good (can be attributed mostly to my error). That leaves about 295 pics that are within acceptable focus. Out of those, about 80% are in PERFECT focus. Excellent results indeed. I used fill flash, no fill, used manual ISO, auto ISO (which I really like), Av, Tv, center-point only, top point only, and far right point (in portrait orientation). This camera took everything I threw at it up the butt and begged for more. Looks like Canon finally got this camera right this time.

For comparison, every other gallery in that

was taken with the 30D. I left the originals (10.1MP) available for viewing.
