1 series > M mode > metering

So I've not been happy with the metering on the 1Ds Mk. II compared to my old 1Ds M.kI - So I go to try some other metering modes in M and discover my camera cannot select anything other than Partial in M.

I have never noticed this. AV, TV mode allow a change in metering mode, but not M.

Anyone else notice this?

It could be something to do with one of the custom/ personal functions that dictates the default metering mode in Manual mode. I would have thought that this should still allow you to choose other metering modes nevertheless, but it's worth a try if you have not done so yet.

It's a very stuffy list to look through, but glad you found it. Running off the old 1Ds I'm irked by the fact that I cannot change the settings of any of the functions on the fly, and can only turn it on or off. With no firewire capable computer at home I had to borrow a station for a few moments to change everything.
