Saw The Britins, a Beatles Tribute Band, tonight in Milwaukee. Although they look nothing like The Beatles, they play the tunes pretty well!!

All shot with my Canon XT with the 50mm F/1.4 in Av mode.

C&C welcome

Edit: It's Britins not Britons (ugh, it's late)

JW: thanks for the compliment, but I'm sorta a newb with a dSLR myself. I've had my XT since January, but I've been playing with Canon P&S digi cams for 5-6 years.

For image #2 EXIF data:

Camera Make: Canon
Camera Model: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XT
Image Date: 2007:09:06 20:00:49
Flash Used: No
Focal Length: 50.0mm
CCD Width: 4.11mm
Exposure Time: 0.0025 s (1/400)
Aperture: f/1.8
ISO equiv: 100
White Balance: Auto
Exposure: aperture priority (semi-auto)

By the way, if you use FireFox, there is a view EXIF data plugin. You can right click on a photo and get the data.

Nice shots ... but I hate those white tents. My first opportunity with a band was in one of those, very frustrating to get a good background. But its fun shooting anywhere.

You've got that right! I might stop by a local festival tonight and shoot more bands. Fun stuff!!

ps. The 50mm F/1.4 hasn't been off my camera since I got it.

1/400 at ISO 100? Wow. Must have been a ton of light.
Too bad quality didn't match quantity of lighting.

Apart from the lighting, the first two are nice.
Last is nice as well.

On all, the WB is too yellowish IMO.

It was a ton of (yellowish!!) light! #5 was shot at ISO800 at 1/60th. That was in front of the stage.

I found the hardest part of shooting a band is getting a good expression on their faces. I took ~35 pictures to come up with these 4 keepers. Although, #3 could get nixed. It's not really doing anything for me on second look.

I was with the family and got the 'ol, "stop taking pictures and sit with your family".

I really enjoyed at that concert. By chance I took place at front of the stage & I took 45 pictures.
