Lacewing Larvae

Hiya All,

Here's two rather embarrassingly OOF shots of a Lacewing Larvae

#1 is on my Jeans after me rather clumbsily knocking it from the position it was found in #2 which was on a my Mulberry Tree, Mmmm yummy fruits, damn Blackbirds love em as well unfortunately

Thanks either a chunky knit jumper from back in the 70s and a large larva or a very small larva and you cloth of your jeans I think these are fascinating the way they collect up all the debris. A bit like me really Great shot Mark

would love to see one of this someday. would never realize there a bug underneath all that junk.

It was just pure luck that I spotted this one, as I was looking to see if there were any Mulberries left I just saw a small movement, hoped back in to get my camera & shot the blighter

I've found these harder to find than Spingtails, not because of their size but their Camouflage, I've started to cheat now & take a pocket Magnifier out with me, puts less strain on the ol eyes

Good shots Mark - I always wondered what these were until Brian ID'd one for me a few months ago. Amazing how they add debris to their back to aid their camouflage.

I found a few more this morn, my God they're hard to find on this Mulberry Tree of mine their Camo is so well suited to the young Bark of the tree, wonder why they discard it as they grow, seems strange as they're so much easier to spot then

Going good, waiting on the new camera to arrive on Monday morning *grins*, can't wait to get my hands on the 1D Mark IIn and see what it can do. Many thanks to my parents for kindly lending me the money to upgrade to it (still need to sell my 1D and D60 of course to partly pay for the new camera). I got the 50mm f1.4 lens on Friday, not sure if I'll keep it or sell it...
