Yup, its how I make a living...er squeak by anyway.
And actually I will shoot things on occasion for fun, but the IRL doesnt interest me in the least so when I'm at a track with them I'll usually avoid them unless I just happen to be out on track when they come out or are finishing up.
And like any job, you just get to the point where you arent going out and spending time shooting things in the hot and humid weather when you dont need to. You save your energy for the stuff you have to do. I'd spend much of the IRL time in the media center editing photos or shooting headshots or paddock stuff for my ALMS clients.
Thanks for the comments. I would have liked just a bit more room at the top of the frame of the pit stop shot, but the Vette had just come in, I had just gotten to the pits and I ran to jump the wall and snap a couple quick frames. But it still works. The previous two frames really cut off Johnny's (driver) head.
I also liked the shot of the kid in that autograph session shot. There is something really cool about seeing little kids with their fathers at an auto race. Its not so much that it takes me back to being a kid as much as its just something special for those kids and something they will likely always remember, whether they realize it or not.
