real quick battery question

Will the NB-2l battery work in a Rebel xti which came with the NB-2lh battery? whats the difference between the two? Thanks

Yes, it will work. The NB-2LH has a higher capacity so it should last longer before needing to be charged.

Some third-party batteries are labelled as NB2L even though they have higher capacities than the NB2LH. You can consider the NB2L as the basic battery type designation in the same vein as C, D, AA, AAA, etc. The 'H' is just Canon's high capicity designation.

I ahve a question also:

I have two NB-2LH but i heard the new BP511 for the 40D is 1400 maH whereas H2LH are 700 maH, does it fits into the xti and is it worth it ? Looks like twice the usage

no it will not fit the batteries are completely different


Canon 1DMKII, 7D, 5DMKII, 1D MKII
Canon 500L, 100-400L
, 70-200 2.8L, 17-40L, 24-105L, 24mm 2.8,50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8, 135mm 2.8 SF, 100mm Macro

It won't fit - BP-511 is a completely different shape. There's nothing new about BP-511 either - the 20D uses them, I believe the 10D uses them, the G6 uses them, some of the camcorders use them. Indeed, the EOS D30 (not to be confused with 30D), which was Canon's first DSLR, uses them.

I have a very old camcorder that uses them. A Canon ZR10 that was purchased in 2001. Yes it is digital. IT works fine even almost 7 years later. The reason not to update is the use of the BP511's, then I can just have one type of battery.
