For my first ever Canon equipment. For the last 19 years I have always used Nikon gear.

Canon EOS 5D
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM
Canon TC-80N3 Remote Switch

I think that this should be a decent start for a Canon landscape kit. My plan is to pick up in the near future the 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM to go along with the 24-70mm lens.

You will love the 5D, the amount of detail of which I consistently see in my landscapes is nothing short of absolutely stunning, there is just something about the 5D's images that stand out, its also the first non 1 series to be accepted on I believe Gettyimages.

Nice kit there ;-)a

I never did like the loss of my wide angle with the DX size sensors (APS-C) that Nikon has been using. I have been using a Nikon D2H since 2004 and while it is a very nice camera the 4.1MP is limiting as far as printing over 8X10"; it is also a little too heavy for hiking/backpacking. Also Canon offers better lens options than Nikon for landscape photography with their f/4 L stuff (70-200mm f/4 L IS USM).
