40D shutter button help

I have enabled the focus to work on my asteric button but my shutter button still focuses as well how do I disable the focus on my shutter button

What did you do to move the focusing to the "*" button? On the 40D, focusing is normally assigned to the AF-ON button as well as the shutter button. You can disable the focusing via the shutter button by setting C.Fn IV-1 to either 2 or 3.

But that doesn't do anything to move the focusing to the "*" button. You have to set C.Fn IV-2 to 1 to swap the AF-ON and the "*" button functions. I bet this is all you this without setting C.Fn IV-1. :)

C.Fn IV 2 switched to enable. #1

Thanks on the help on disabling the focus on the shutter button.

I was out this evening taking pictures for the first time with it and I would focus using my * button and would recompose the object in my view finder and when I went to take a picture it would refocus which defeated the purpose of me wanting the * for my focusing.
