Regardless if I get a 1D3 or 1D2n, I will want to change the screen. In the past I used a grid screen with a split image rangefinder in the center from Brightscreen 20/20. While Canon's EC series of screens state that they fit 1D3 and 1D2n, they also fit EOS-1, 1N, 1V, and EOS-3. When I inquired at Beattie with a question regarding any adjustment that may be needed (metering wise) with their screens I was told that Beattie does not make a screen for digital cameras. Just seems odd that Beattie's screens will fit EOS-1, 1N, 1V, and EOS-3 but not the 1D series while Canon's screens fit both film and digital cameras. Other than Brightscreen does anyone know of a grid with split image that will fit 1D cameras?

They didn't say they wouldn't fit digital cameras; just that the Beattie screens aren't made for the digitals. This may be as straightforward as not wanting to mess with determining the adjustments that would be needed to function properly.
