Well I think People have to look at a percentage of failures, for bodies sold, and reliability.

I see 40D problems only a very few, but how many bodies have they sold, Thousands all ready, I bet, wonder how many MK3 have been sold since it's release, I think it is good people report these things, it gives people an idea's of reliability, something that is very important.

Well if you think they started at 501*** and are now on 535*** that would suggest around 34,000

40D's should well out sell 1D mk3's as the 40D is a prosumer camera and quarter of the price... You cannot really compare sale for sale...

However returns per 100 sales now that figure would be interesting

I would say they all ready have, but the ratio of faults per overall sales still be interesting for both

this sounds like my situation
2 weeks ago my mkIII was not happy
I were in the middle of using it,2 miles from anywhere near Lapush WA,beautiful landscapes and........
error 99 and strange shutter noises even when turned off
also when changing lenses(turned off also)
it sounds like my shutter is poked too!
I sent it to canon on fri 21st and im still waiting, awesome

2 days after I sent it in my premium package arrived-thanks canon.2 days to late!

A shutter failing at 2700 clicks doesn't automagically make an epidemic.

Are you serious? This is the internetz! I paid XXXXXX dollars for my camera and since its broke, everyone must have this problem! What an overpriced pile of JUNK!

The new reports sound identical to mine. Canon replaced the shutter drive motor and so far so good.

thumbs up to Canon at elstree. mine packed up on the sunday pm, sent it off to elstree monday am and collected it thursday am. Not bad service I reckon.

Mine was a little opposite. The shutter works but the mirror won't flip up at times.

A single shutter failure does not an epidemic make.
