Bill Well bill, he did managed to get both subjects on the same focal plane -- parallel to it. Including the plant they were on. He also used a f11 aperture which makes most of the frame in focus. Even if he used f22, but the subjects were head on. They would have not been in focus at all -- I hope this helps. I learned this composition/focus technique from a fellow photog. It has helped my shots being tack sharp a lot.!!! Just like his shot!!! .
