hmm. So I went out to Best Buy and tried out the 40d, really nice. "Holy Cow!" I thought when I saw the screen size. Though how ever, for 3 years i've been using the 1.8" screen, so Im useto it, I don't care. I shoot sports mainly, but im going on my own soon. I have 2 options. The canon 40d, Grip, 580EX II, and 17-40mm...Or Canon Mark II, Canon 28-135mm and 580EX Flash. I must say though I really enjoy using a Mark 2, it fits like a glove, and the view findeer, yikes is it bright!. So Im kinda stuck between here. I shoot in a lot of weather differencies, but ehh. Any thought?

mk2 with the 28-135 + 580EX is what i'd go for there.

Not only wouldyou join the 1D club (ive joined too :D - eh, dont let that put you off now :p) but its a wonderful cam. Ive tried one and loved it (thus went mk3)

All depends on price

I'd go for the MarkII.

Your familiar with it, and its a well known performer.

Your camera is alot smarter than the "M" Zealots would have you believe

I'm sorry, but Mark II isnt a camera. You might be referring to the 1Ds2 or 1D2. Which are you considering?

I was thinking about selling my 1DIIN and buying 2 40D bodies. I can buy 2 of them for what I can sell my Mark IIN for.

Most people when talking about the MK2, normally are referring to the 1d Mk 2.
However not 100% sure here.

I have been thinking about the 1d Mk2 for a long time as many may know, however the addition of the 40d is very tempting, however i believe i will reap the benefits of the 1d over the 40d after i think about it.

The quicker AF, sealed body, microphone, better body shape and the fact its a 1d series

Fair point, does this include the battery grips?

no decision here, Mark II. there is no comparison when shooting with
a pro series body. I HATE how my 20D feels in use compared, even though
the images are great.

I know how ya feel there as far as feel with the 20d... If I had a full time job I would just say F' it and Get the Mark III, 17-40mm and 580ex II. Then I would quit the full time job once they were payed off and go on my own. I think too much,

Things don't seem to add up. You say you shoot sports, yet you are looking a possibly getting a 17-40? Whats up with that? Also, talk about crippling a 1D body by putting the 28-135 on it. Neither of you options would get you a decent sports camera.

I also said Im going on my own. I also own the 70-200mm 2.8, and yes, it would make a good sports camera. I would put the 17-40mm on the 20d. P.S. it's proven that you don't always need a long telephoto to get a great sports shot. Actually a wide angle is preferd along with a telephoto.

Yes, I read that in your 1st post. I don't have the foggiest notion exactly what you mean by this and how it relates to your decision. You might enlighten us so that we might be able to help you better. Right now I understand you want to shoot sports, and I really don't think you would use your 17-40 very much ( if at all ) shooting sports.

Yes and no. I would use it more with the senior pics and other shoots I would do.

if you can wait a week,i would be able to tell you exactly because i have the 2 cameras coming my way. however, if the same decision was between the 20D and 1DmkII than i would say mkII hands down no questions asked based on my experience with both cameras.
