Hi

With my 350D, when I look at the histogram, there is a small version of the picture I took and any overexposed areas flashes.

With the 40D, when I look at the histogram, there is also a small version of the picture I took but the over exposed area does not flash.

There is an option though in the menu to 'enable' overexposed ares but that seem to work only after a picture has been taken, and only overexpose are flashes when I review the picture (only the picture).

This this the only way to review flashing overexposed warning on the 40D?

Thanks
Pat

Do you mean you want the overexposed areas to blink before you take a pic? How's that supposed to work?

My 40D works exactly as I'm used to from the XT. Since you already enabled the flashies maybe you didn't overexpose?

No, not to blink before I take the pictures.
With the 40D, when this feature is enabled, after you take a picture, the picture displays for a few seconds in the LCD. At that point, you can see the overexposed area blinking. This blnking is also displayed, I think, when I review the picture as normal by selecting the 'play image' button. If I select the 'INFO' button, the small image next to the histogram does not blink if overexposed. I've noticed this, or am I going crazy...

I just checked my 40D and the over exposed areas blink in all review modes, from full image through to all info and small picture. I guess as long as its switched to show the blown highlights it will (should) do it in all modes.
Sorry, cant help any more.

I suppose you are aware that there's a menu setting, CF something that turns this on/off on the 40D right?

Sounds like he already has it on if he can see it flashing in the full screen review.

So it is all or nothing? I can't choose not to blink in the full review mode? Only in the Info mode?
Thanks
Pat
