Hi,

my DPP crashes every time I try to open a RAW file. This is Digital Photo Professional,
version 3.1.0.5, received with a new camera, Canon EOS 40D, just a few days ago. I am running it on an Intel Mac, Mac OS X 10.4.10, and I am NOT using Rosetta. The files from the camera have extension .CR2 Any thoughts?

Thanx.

I have had that problem when the folder contained a corrupted file.

I cant see whether any of the files are corrupted, they can all be viewed with Canon Image Browser, and even with the Mac Finder as icons.

I haven't upgraded to 10.4.10 yet, I heard of people having problems with it. Only thing I would suggest is to dump DPP and reload it.

I have never had any problems with 10.4.10, I run other professional software under it.
But this is what Canon technical support people have also suggested over the phone -
uninstall and re-install. Maybe, I will try. I also wanted to try the Photoshop, but I
guess the plug-in is not available yet...
Thanks.

I figured out the way around. The thing is, I have an administrative account on my Mac, used for software installations system wide, maintenance, backups, etc., and a user account or everyday work. The DPP was obviously installed in the admin acoount, and when I tried to open a RAW image in the user account it crashed (all the time). Well, after I have opened one RAW image in the admin account, it could open RAW images in the user account as well, and everything now seems to work fine. Whoever wrote this piece of software did it in an extremely weird way, perhaps they need to learn a thing or two about what UNIX is...

Thanks very much SVT. I had exactly the same problem, but your solution fixed it.
