hi all....well i was in a wedding and my little 28-135 suddenly stopped working right...when the lens is on 28 mm its not focusing and a repeat tak-tak-tak noize comes out.....to focus it needs time and patience as this noize keeps coming out from the lens....when my 580 EX is on my camera the lens doesnt pass the focal lenght information to the flash and in the ''auto zoom'' function the flash is stuck in 105 mm.....i tried 2 other lenses and everything works fine....anyone knows whats going on...? ?

Sounds like you've ruled out a problem with your camera body. The failure to focus and the noise you're hearing is similar to the problem that I encountered with my old EF 35~135 lens. I haven't bothered to have it diagnosed, but I'm guessing that the auto focus motor is going bad. How old is your lens?

No, no. Since your other lenses work fine with the camera, it sounds like a problem with your lens.

I believe Canon's lens warranty is one year. You may want to send it back to have them take a look before the warranty lapses.

It still may be worth pursuing if it's not too far beyond the warranty expiration, and the lens doesn't show any visible wear and tear.

Where are you? Your location looks like Connecticut but you talk about repair costs in Euros...

Canon's factory repair facilities (at least here in the U.S.) will give you a price quote for repairs before they actually do the work. So there should be little risk in sending it in. If you've only had it for only a little over a year, Canon may agree to fix it for free under the warranty (I've seen this happen). It's worth a try.
