I've already tried one like this recently, but one correspondent suggested, quite rightly, that the subject was a bit small in the frame. I went back to the same spot this afternoon and there were not one, but two, male darters on the same tree. I chose the lower of the two, and was able to get closer, about 5 feet at 300mm tele. I was able to get deep shadow in the background and the sunlight on his wings but the wings kept sagging. I found if I tapped the tree branch a couple of times he went into 'alert' mode and put his wings back up so I could nip back round and take the shot. This is taken with natural light with slight cropping and a little USM for the resized web copy.
C&C appreciated.

Another fine shot Eccles, I think the closer take on the Dragonfly has done the job this time. Man I wish I could find Dragonflies like you guys are
