This is my first attempt at creating a panorama using Photoshop - what do you think?

rather than doing a horizonal shot, try a sweeping "S" series

me either. :)

I like it but the foreground seems a bit flat or something.

Nice picture, but the foreground as commented on, is not the lush green that I would have anticipated, as being the norm for the Lake District.
S bend like wise??

I like it. The foreground is a bit flat. Just boost the contrast and sat and it's good for hanging.

Thanks for the comments, I wonder if the grass looks a bit "flat" because I used a GND 9 filter, perhaps it's a bit overexposed?

I'll have a play with the contrast and saturation, as all I've done so far is tweak the levels a bit to get matching brightness ans then join them together.

It's not overexposed at all. Imo, the grass should have some punch since your foreground makes up a part of the pano. It would be more pleasing to see it more green to please the eye. It's just an opinion but, what matters is what really looks good to you. I like strong color in my shots and to me it makes it pop.

Didn't keep up, sorry. When I said sweeping "S", I mean't this-

3 2 1
4 5 6
9 8 7

In this case it would be nine images.

Still doesn't make any sense to me. :) Maybe to someone though.

I think this is how he had taken the shots in a sweeping S for this pano making up 9 images which does make sense. I've seen Duder post with bracketed images making up 27 images in his panos.

I've had another play with the originals, and come up with a new version, which only covers part of the scene and comprises 4 portrait orientations stitched together. I've tried to use levels/saturation to improve the colours, without losing how it originally looked - what do you think?

I was trying to say that you don't have to limit yourself to shooting in a linear pattern. I combine horizontal and vertical images for the final photomerge.
