But how long can you keep clean? When the 1Ds Mk III & D3 hits the shelfs, your inner demons will come out more stronger! :D

now that i accepted that i have a problem, i can make it. everytime that i feel like i am about to slip, i will look at this image which is on my wall printed at 16x24 and looks just fantastic :)

I'm still kickin' it with my 1D classic and a 20D. Won't see me running for the MkIII OR the 40D until one of mine breaks.

I'm doing old tech with a 1D Mark II and a 10D. Perfectly happy with both actually. I can only see the 10D being replaced...but with another 1D Mark II...for consistency. None of this overpriced new stuff will be in my bag anytime soon. There's just not enough ROI in it.

I'm relatively new to the forum but have experience in film, P&S and now DSLR - although it has always been a hobby - just like music - never serious - never for money - just for the pleasure of creating something. And I realize that there is always a burst of "gotta have it" threads on every forum after every announcement about new gear.

But I gotta tell you that after spending 1 year with my 400D I realized this weekend that I haven't mastered what I have - let alone being ready to upgrade. Oh, sure I started counting my pennies last week and Googled for reviews of the 40D but then I spend the 3 hours in Stanley Park here in Vancouver and realized that :

a) didn't use my tripod enough and got motion blur in 30% of my shots
b) was in too much of a hurry most of the time
c) tried to get too much DOF where it didn't make sense
d) spent more time worrying about moving to the next stop then about exposure and creativity.
e) have more than 50% of my shots are throwaway.

I think I need to get what I got working right before I even think about buying new gear.

Just my 2 (cdn) cents worth.

I'm in a similar boat. I needed a 1D though. It lets me screw up faster. :)

looks like i touched a nerve with Dekka :) seriously bro, why are you still here if this topic has no interest to you, it seems like other members did get the point...

I already said I agree with you, (did that get missed?) but I think it's impractical for that type of change in an "equipment talk" forum. And frankly, I hope people never stop talking about the latest and greatest, and comparisons, and test results in this forum.

I've learned a lot from it.

For the art-first side of things, we have several places to get that fix just a few rooms down...

And, well, this is a discussion forum and it's what we do here, right? Discuss things, even those things we don't see eye-to-eye about? Has that changed?

But, if this thread is strictly for those whose sign-up dates are circa velvia film being the height of artistic expression, I obviously have no place in it. I'll leave you to posts of strict agreement and unadulterated back-patting. :)

I've noticed we've become a very "sensitive" group. Feelings and all that stuff.
But if we all agreed on everything this would be pretty boring wouldn't it.

I agree with Dekka on this one.

I do hear what you are saying Blonde. Definitely.

But I don't see anything wrong with being a "gearhead", "fanboy", or whatever you want to term it.

For me that's PART of the fun...for some that's ALL of it...I do hope I don't end up that way.

I sure do enjoy reading about gear though!:D

Hey, nicksan, although I agree with blonde, the beauty of this forum is that its just like TV. If you don't like it, switch to another channel.

Nice post Snir...and certainly in the right place...the only place a gearhead is going to see a gear related post is in a gear forum...I certainly don't understand the requests to move it...unless it has struck a VERY big nerve.;):lol:

Absolutely. Since you asked nicely, here you go (external link). They'll love for you to regale them on that time you froze your rear off shooting the setting sun with nothing but a pinhole and a lot of time. P.S. Don't mention how much you like the high ISO performance of said pinhole.

haha, i have never seen anybody get so offended over a post of mine, i am honored. and to think that whole this whining and crying is because YOU think that this is the wrong forum...

btw, i have only started shooting about 2 years ago so you will get no such "memories" from me.

And here I thought the OP said "pinhead".

Shows how you can mis-interpret someones typing.
