This is EXACTLY where this thread belongs. You don't send your best evangelists to the church down the street. You send them where people don't believe.

I still want an 85L.

Blonde you are totally, completely sane.

Which is why there is probably a contract out on you from the gear manufacturers. You're talking blasphemy in their eyes.

You are also totally correct in your assessment.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this discussion in the EOS Digital Camera Forum! This isn't just a place to discuss new gear, but to discuss how to get the most out of your existing gear and whether or not you truly need the latest and greatest to achieve your photographic goals. While new gear is fun and exciting, if people spent as much time learning how to use their existing equipment to it's fullest (and maybe getting out and shooting a few real life photos instead of measurbating their new equipment to the smallest discernable pixel), then they'd get a lot more out of the craft.

haha, i have never seen anybody get so offended over a post of mine, i am honored...

No one's offended, seriously. Far from. Though, I will not begrudge you any honor you may feel. I'm not that cruel.

Glad you liked that little joke. :)

And here I thought the OP said "pinhead".

Shows how you can mis-interpret someones typing.

I am not the OP. Okay, now I'm getting offended.

But, if this thread is strictly for those whose sign-up dates are circa velvia film being the height of artistic expression, I obviously have no place in it. I'll leave you to posts of strict agreement and unadulterated back-patting. :)

Wow! Pretty sensitive aren't you? If you don't like a thread you don't have to read it, but there's no need to get bent out of shape simply because people don't agree with your idea of where a particular thread ought to be posted.

Note the smilie. It was actually a comment to those who seemed to get bent out of shape that I wasn't totally in lock-step, or that my sign-up date or post count didn't afford me the right to disagree. Nothing more. I was never offended, nor do I hope anyone else was. Though, if you actually clicked that link I posted, I would certainly understand if you were.

Naturally.

If you send them down the street they'll be back before lunch, but if you send them "where people don't believe" you'll have weeks of peace and quiet.

FWIW I both agree and disagree with the OP. I've become quite content using just the 20D with two lenses (24-70L and 70-200/2.8 IS L), a Sig 500 Super and a couple of cheapo 160ws ebay strobes.

Reading 50 threads about the latest camera/lens/flash gets old.

But so does looking at pictures of grandkids/landscapes/cars ad nauseum (only G&N never seems to get stale). ;)

yes, i get them all at Target :) i think i pay around 9.99 per frame. and yes, they do have glass surface. i actually changed a few of the images above and added 3 large prints but i do like the setup with the black frames (it matches my monitor's frame and i have OCD so it works out well :) )

to my defense, i never said that you should look at tons of pictures instead or that you shouldn't read gear threads. i said that you should enjoy the gear that you already have and take tons of pictures (which should never get old...)

So what your saying is a 1DsMKIII will have an image quality like the 30D and the results will be the same? Now that one just cracked me up...
No matter how bad of a photographer you are, you will get a better image by using the better camera.

A crappy, improperly exposed and uninteresting photo with great IQ is still a crappy, improperly exposed and uninteresting photo. :)

But with better results than if it was taken with a lesser IQ camera, right?
I don't get it. Why argue with gearheads in a gear forum??? Your just asking for an arguement. The latest is the best in most cases, or else it would not be markeded by the Manufacturer.

In response to calling rich people idiots: If I had the money do you think I would buy a Canon camera like a 30D(poster) if I could buy the latest one??? 3K is peanuts to a rich person...

That's certainly debatable.

I don't see this as a gearhead forum, per se, but rather as a place to discuss equipment and how to get the most of your equipment, both the latest and greatest as well as the oldest. The idea is to help people become better photographers by helping them to understand how their gear works and how to best utilize that gear for a given shooting situation - not to always suggest they get the latest and greatest to solve the problem. :)
