Taken a week and a half ago:

mrkgoo, What lens is that?? Looks like my 17-85 IS but the hood looks different.

NSWESP, both Krepta and MRKGoo have got 17-55 IS's attached to their 40D's.

I wish somebody would come out with a better grip design, is it just me or does anyone else think they look like an addon, I know of course it IS an addon, but take the right hand side of that photo, the grip should follow the lines of the camera, not go in like that, it looks really odd.

Nick_C, you ain't fussy. Look at the BG-ED3 grip and the 10D. Just a super fit.

Noink D300 with its grip, kinda perfect fit too.

Yes that is much better, the lines flow from the body into the grip, this is how all grips should be, the one on the 40D looks weird to me, the D300 with grip looks fine too, I just googled my 5D with grip, that also looks fine.

EDIT: Ys that Canon grip looks hideous. Lines dont match at all! I am getting a grip for my 400D (E3 i think) and that looks ok, Are there any other non canon grips that fit the 40D nicely?

Yeah, the 5D looks fine too but I thought the 10D design was so much over the 5D design (even) that I didn't want to mention.

I agree with all of you about the grip. It is not really smooth looking.
