Finally got the chance to take a photo of mine (shot with my Rebel XT):

I agree with Nick_C, this grip looks really cheap and tacky. Looks a bit like an afterthought - trying to keep-up with the big-boys? Without it the 40D looks great!

Quite some people think Opteka will make a very good grip for the 40D, which will fit perfectly. Well, don't care really as I decided I wouldn't buy the 40D, just something even better. I agree, but unfortunately you never have the option of removing them to lighten up the camera, I was planning on getting the 17mp 1DsMkII but went for the 5D instead as its far lighter & easier to carry around all day, but I have the option to make it larger & heavier by adding a grip if I want to.

I wouldn't mind having the option of a 1DM3, but to be honest, I'm so delighted with the quality of the 40D, I think if I had the money, I'd have a pair of 40Ds, and use the rest of the money on glass Nick_C wrote in post #4041879 I agree, but unfortunately you never have the option of removing them to lighten up the camera, I was planning on getting the 17mp 1DsMkII but went for the 5D instead as its far lighter & easier to carry around all day, but I have the option to make it larger & heavier by adding a grip if I want to. But yes the intergrated grips do look a lot better. The 10D & 5D both have pretty decent looking grips, matching the contours of the body pretty well. The worst so far ive seen are the 20/30/40D & 400D with grips, they look kinda silly to me, but then I have been told that im a fussy ******* in the past ![]() D7100, 50mm f/1.8, 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6, 70-300mm f/3.5-5.6 VR, SB800
