Finally got the chance to take a photo of mine (shot with my Rebel XT):

QUOTED IMAGE

I agree with Nick_C, this grip looks really cheap and tacky. Looks a bit like an afterthought - trying to keep-up with the big-boys? Without it the 40D looks great!

Hey, we have similar set-ups! Nice lens! ;)

I agree with all of you about the grip. It is not really smooth looking.

:D

I noticed too...even our shots are reasonably similar :p I also have a 350D, 18-55, but swap your other lenses with a 50mm1.8, and a 70-200f4l. :p

your right, I like the 40D and all, but the grip doesn't seem to fit correctly, like it's too short or something

Does Opteka make a better fitting grip? Or another company?

NSWESP - Opteka I think make a grip for the 20D/30D/40D but AFAIK it's not better than Canon's. Quite some people think Opteka will make a very good grip for the 40D, which will fit perfectly. Well, don't care really as I decided I wouldn't buy the 40D, just something even better. :D

Hey, tell me... why do I feel that most people aged around 15-16 in this forum seem to write their age in the signature... Not like age matters. :p I'm 14 and I'm not really much for notifying my age. :)

Aero

This seems to flow better from the camera to the grip, notice the right edge, but of course its not a 40D.

Yes Nick, but though the 10D flows as well as the 5D does, it fits much better - tighter. :)

I loved the way my 10D handled with the grip, until I got my hands on a 1DS - the integrated grip on that (and I assume all 1 series bodies) is just so much better due to the nicer more rounded shape.

I agree, but unfortunately you never have the option of removing them to lighten up the camera, I was planning on getting the 17mp 1DsMkII but went for the 5D instead as its far lighter & easier to carry around all day, but I have the option to make it larger & heavier by adding a grip if I want to.

But yes the intergrated grips do look a lot better.

The 10D & 5D both have pretty decent looking grips, matching the contours of the body pretty well.

The worst so far ive seen are the 20/30/40D & 400D with grips, they look kinda silly to me, but then I have been told that im a fussy ******* in the past ;)

They look prettier, but I also find them much more comfortable, as the shape doesn't have to accommodate the BP511 shape in it. I wouldn't mind having the option of a 1DM3, but to be honest, I'm so delighted with the quality of the 40D, I think if I had the money, I'd have a pair of 40Ds, and use the rest of the money on glass :D.
