There was a metal collar affixed to the lens to keep it on.

Sounds like the photographic version of a laptop security chain.... but MUCH smaller :lol:; physical anti-theft barrier. Yeah, there is no real "lens lock."

Let us know how things work out. I'm probably just being conservatively over-paranoid when it comes to demo gear, and that all will work out well for you.
