I called my local camera store looking for the 40D. They got a new shipment in today and lo and behold their prices are the same as BH. They are holding one for me til the bonus check arrives in a few days.

Thought I would mention it as maybe it means new shipments will be available at your favorite shopping places.

Except you will have to pay sales tax, if your state requires it, at the local store.

Small price to pay to support your local camera store. :)

AND to have it in your hands the same day/second you lay your eyes upon it... I am impatient like that as well.

And from a fellow Texan, I know that sales tax wasn't an insignificant thing!

But, yes, still a small price to have it immediately, backed by a B&M, and the general warm and fuzzies you get from supporting a local camera shop.

I don't like having to pay the taxes but the great thing is that if there is a problem you can drive right on over and change it for another one.

I bought a ball head there once and decided I didn't like it and they gave my money back. I bought a backback, used it for 2 weeks before deciding it was too small, took it back and traded it for a bigger one.

I offered to put a deposit down today for them to hold the camera for a few days. They said it was not necessary, they would just put my name on it and put it away for me. There are some good things to be said for the local camera stores.

By the way, what is a B&M?

B&M = "bricks & mortar" ie, a physical store instead of an online-only shop.

A co-worker drove across the border to Bellingham and the Best Buy there had 2 of the 40D's. He bought one for 1499CDN$
