I read the menu it show me how to custom set white and balance ....just shot thw white paper or grey card and then set it .

My question is :

1.what condition when you shot the white card and set to the custom white and balance mode ? (day light out side or the room light at the time you shot)

For example : if I going to the church ...I should shot the grey card at the church and set it to my white balance custom set .Or if I am gong to shot the photo out dooor ,,,I should shot the white card out side and set it ?

Thanks for your help .

set your custom white balance every time the light changes. So yes, set it when you go outdoors, set it again when you go indoors, set it again when you move yet again.

Outdoors is generally pretty easy though because light tends to be very consistent. But indoors is where it gets tricky, so I have only ever set a custom WB indoors in weird lighting situations... and only when shooting available light because your flash exposure balances changes a lot and will throw your reading off.

It might be easier to shoot in RAW and use AWB. You can correct the white balance in post.

Get the expo disk (external link), the best thing that ever happened to my lens!! I might as well chain it to my camera. Will never go anywhere without it again. Try it and you'll love it too.

I use the ExpoDisc and it saves lot of time in PPing...you are already using RAW, so you are just a step away. I used to correct in PPing each picture, but with the grey card or ExpoDisc you can adjust a whole bunch at the same time and get it MOSTLY right as long as they were shot in the same light...

I bought the expos disc. I really like it very much, but the thing is in wedding ,where people just in hurry and change locations happened a lot, I don't use it much.
You just don't have time to 'remember' to cap the expodisc on your lens an take picture of it.

So now, I just white balance in pp. I use lightroom

The lighting is often too inconsistent at a wedding to really utilize a custom WB, and you're likely to forget it as you move from place to place.

Best to shoot RAW with AWB.
