Yeah I agree, anyway, a 5D is next in line...

Look, I'm not a fanboi or really think that the image quality from the 20/30/40/5D is "that much" different for most shots. But to say that the 40D is not a true upgrade in features to to 30D is simply not looking at the facts. It's a major upgrade to features. Whether or not you can use the features doesn't take away from the fact that they are there.

John B - I should be able to post some 5D images this weekend to compare with the 40D. Looking at those images I liken the 40D to having as much noise as a 30D. I have used a 5D plenty of times, shooting several thousand images with it and am very comfortable in knowing how it compares to my 30D, hence thats why I feel the 40D doesn't compete with the 5D ISO-wise- it really competes with the 30D and I feel my images show that. I'm sorry if you disagree.

Thanks for doing this test, its confirmed what I already thought, the 40D is a good upgrade for the 30D, adding new features, but from what ive seen its no match for the 5D, those noise results while I havent checked every one so far, the 40D doesnt look a lot better than the 30D, Canons white paper said noise hasnt increased over the 30D, so thats the same as saying its the same?

The more tests we see from various sources is the only way to truly see what the 40D can or cant do compared to other cameras, this is another test that is welcome.

Thanks for taking the time to do the test.
