To me, that looks like a total waste of good money for use on a digital camera. The function of that filter can easily be replicated in software.

For a film camera, on the other hand, it might make a little sense.

Well as usual it is best to get it right out of the camera and not rely on Photochop to manipulate pixels. Less chopping the better.

A red intensifier/enhancing filter is made of special didymium glass which absorbs a narrow band of the light spectrum in the yellow range. It is not really the same as a typical warming filter but has the effect of making warm colors appear more red by removing some of the yellow (it also works on greens) while leaving other colors nearly unaffected. The yellow light it absorbs also happens to correspond to the light produced by low-pressure sodium lights (it is also useful to glass blowers for this reason I believe) and a smaller part of the mercury light spectrum so it can be sometimes used to lower the intensity of outdoor lighting in night scenes depending on the light sources.

I really like the effect. Even with digital cameras, I find the effect hard to duplicate precisely (as I said, its not really quite the same as a warming filter but more selective). The filter doesn't affect daylight light levels very much and produces a VERY nice effect when used in conjunction with a polarizer to photograph foliage and sky.

Here's a sample of an intensifier filter used with a circular polarizer I happend to have sitting on the desktop. Not my best by far with this combination but it was handy.
