Headed out on the Pow Wow Trail today near Isabella Lake in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and the 'shrooms were all over the place after this heavy rain. I found all these species in an area about the size of an (American) football field five miles into the wilderness. Cool fall weather and smart fall rain spell FUNGI! :D

All with the Canon 30D and Canon 100 f2.8 macro. Some also were shot using LiteDisc pop-up diffusers and/or reflectors to cut harsh sunlight or fill shadow areas. These collapse into discs about 4 inches in diameter to go inside the zipper bags and pop up to about 12 to 16 inches across (haven't measured them). They weigh almost nothing and take up little room in the bag but are VERY handy.

I shot this at the shallowest DOF possible to give it a dreamy look. Only the front bottom edges of the mushroom caps are sharply in focus
