Hey all, how do you find out how many actuations you have on a camera?

I have a rebel XT and am curious to know how many shots I've taken so I can gauge the ware and tear on the shutter.

Thanks

Unfortunately, aside from never having messed up your continuous filename (if you've always used that) by using a card containing images from another camera or by counting your pictures and guesstimating how many you deleted... there is no way with that body.

Maybe Canon can tell you if you take it in for inspection.

Thanks!

Well I'm not going to send it in. I guess I'll just guesstimate. :)

Any idea of the estimated shutter life of the little bugger?

How many of your pics do you delete? You can get a round estimate by the number of pics on your PC. Also, have you ever reset the picture number or used a second card? If the answer is no and you have been careful, you can use the picture number and folder number to calculate approx how many shots.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

I use two cards and I have pictures on two different PCs and I make copys of files while editing so I may have up to six copies of the same image at one time, not often though. I usually don't erase files though. I like looking at OOF images. :)

I think I can get a decent idea by going though my desktop at home. but I figure about an average of 1000 frames a month times 13 months so 13 000 frames. That's probably on the low side, I dunno?
