I went out and shot some pictures two nights ago, today the camera won't turn on, the red CF lamp won't flicker when I open the door..I tried it with just 1 BP-511 or the grip and both don't work.

the batteries are fully charges.

the camera is my only body, 8 months old less than 10k pics.

I took out the spare battery in the charger and it looked fine, the hinge that closes when I closes the batter door seems to be ok.

Why would it just not turn on :(

this is a bad bad timing. No back up body and two trips comming up. in the next 3 weeks. Sending it in will likely take months for a response.

I really don't have the money to spend on another body right now not that I would want to spend money on another 30D or a 20D and I can't get a 40d yet it will probably October when they are available in Canada.

Talk about bad luck.

anyone have any ideas at all?

Pulled the battery and back-up battery and let the camera sit a while? Checked that both the battery door switch and CF door are shut firmly and their switches aren't broken?

LOL JBF funny enough the same thought crossed my mine.

I find my problem. it's a strange one but both batteries are finished.

Strange that they would both die at the same time, on the charger they both show as charged but when I tried them individually they both did nto work.

I put two new batteries that I bought they worked.

Whew

That's exactly what I thought when I saw the title of this thread. Sounds like it's time to go buy the 40D.

It's either the batteries or the charger, bring the camera to a shop and try itwith another battery.

Easy enough to find out. What does your voltmeter read?
