I was hired to photograph a banquet the other day for the Pennsylvania Ambulance Association. I mainly used my 40D/16-35L/70-200L f/2.8 IS/580EX II and all flash was bounced. All of the shots are either at ISO 800 or 1600. I opted not to use any Neat Image for noise in PP. The guest speaker was Randolph Mantooth (aka Johnny Gage from tv's Emergency!). Randy looks like he might have had some plastic surgery and the Neat Image NR made him look even more "plasticy." I think the noise is barely noticible. There are a lot of blacks in the photos so you can see what noise there is.

Here is Randy and I:

They look good, but evaluating at ISO noise on web-sized images is pretty much pointless.

Useless example of ISO. You can crop a small part at 100%, this won't affect your © selling photograph
