Here is another attempt at this shot. What I have learned about these shots is that you almost need 2 tripods. One for the camera and one for the flower and some type of wind barrier would be nice. When these webs have any water on them the slightest breeze makes them sway. I think I could get better results with the live view that the 40d offers so it is on my wish list.

I think it looks great!! Like a bunch of diamonds on strings. I know what you mean about the wind. The place I attemp most of my macros is at work on my lunch time. It is between 2 buildings that act like a wind tunnel. If it quiets for a second, when I take the shot, it has gusted again-oof.

No! I only had 1 tripod along. The area I was at had long weeds and tall grass and the spiders build their webs at the top to catch more flying insects. This makes placing the flower behind the web difficult so I used the tripod to hold the flower and hand held the camera.
What I was thinking was taking a cardboard box and cutting one side out. The 3 remaining sides could then shield the wind.

I got to play with a 40D at a store and would love the live view for shots like this. This picture is one single shot. The XT has a very small screen to view. I think the magnification feature on the 40D would help get better shots.

The flower is about 1-2 inches from the dew drops. Thanks for all you nice comments!

Looks pretty good to me, pretty sharp on the water drops and lovely background colours. Good stuff.
