I can see what you are attempting to achieve with #1, but I'm afraid it doesn't quite work for me. The droplet doesn't draw my eye. Sorry.

#2 isn't bad per se, but it doesn't really jump out and grab me.
I don't think the stamens provide a strong enough point of interest. Perhaps if you tried stacking on multiple images to get all the stamens in sharp focus...

Please remember, these are only my opinions, and I'm no pro. :)

Hey, Bernie. Thanks for the input. I have to agree on #1. Had a shot pictured in my head, but didn't quite turn out. I do like #2 better. Closer to what I was trying to achieve. I will try stacking to see if it is better.

I agree...#1 is just dizzying. You should crop really tight, perhaps, on the drop, or choose a different angle so that the red is not back there. You need contrast. if the background were rich green instead of the pink flower, maybe it would work.

Hadn't thought of that, Bob. That would be better. Thanks. I definitely need a little more dof. Well, it is pouring outside so I will have plenty of drops to practice with.:D

Tim,
Just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about...here's a quick rough draft of the effect gained by isolating the droplet more, contrasting it with darker color, like green. You end up with something very abstract, but the eye is drawn to the in-focus droplet. Maybe compose so there is another flower more in focus to add further interest...but I think you see what I mean anyway.
Good luck.
Bob

Thanks, Bob. That definitely looks better and is alot closer to the way I pictured my shot. I'll just keep shooting and using that little trash-canny along the way.;)
