Had a fun time shooting Chris. He's very big into baseball , so we actually shot right in and around Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, home to the Men's CWS. C&C appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Great shots ben! My personal fave is #7. I also really like the colour in #1 and #2. 3 is cool, and my guess is he will really like it. i don't care for 4 really, as his expression is kind of funny and there's some weird stuff on the bottom right corner. 5 is great. Super composition on 6 IMO. 7, again, is my favourite. Love the conversion as well. 8's very nice. I don't mind the harsh light on his face at all. I think sometimes that works well for men--hard light=tough guy.

Great set!

Thanks Kristin, I also really like 3, but I wasn't really very sure about how well it would go over...kind of reminds me of a powerade/gatorade poster. :)

Thanks, Amanda! In 4, I know what you mean, his "photo smile" for lack of a better word, sometimes came across as more of a grimace unfortunately, I might have a better facial expression with this shot somewhere. The weird stuff it some kind of ornamental grass that was behind him, I'll whack it in photoshop.

I bet #1 is the one his parents will like. It's about him, and shows
him to good advantage.

#2 is artistically good, but for a senior portrait I think the seats
are a bit too dominant. Also, the expression isn't inviting.
Similarly, #3 is very artistic but would a parent want it on their
mantel for the next 20 years? #4 is a nice use of lighting, though
the expression is somewhat odd.

#5 is SO close (OK, I admit prejudice in favor of musical
instruments--although I'm also prejudiced towards baseball). The crop
is a bit too tight on the bottom, though that's minor. I wish he had
a smile like in #1. #6 is nice but the feet kind of dominate the
photo.

#7 is probably my favorite. It combines art, mood, and some
personality. I love how you got the shadow on the wall to be so soft
(how did you light this one?). This one might not go on the mantel,
but he and his parents ought to be begging you for a copy.

All I want is a 10-2000 f/0.5L with no distortion that weighs 100 grams, fits in my pocket, and costs $300. Is that too much to ask?

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I love his smile in #1, but unfortunately he didn't use it very often (even at my best jokes :( ). His "photo smile" is what you are seeing in most of them and at times it looked a bit like a grimace unfortunately.

I see what you mean about #6.

On #7, I lit it at probably about 60 degrees to camera right. Not sure about flash settings, probably 1/16th power on the flash about 10-12 feet from him, camera settings were f/2.8 at 1/400th of a second. I did bring it up 1 stop in Lightroom however, so 1/200th shutter would have been a better choice. Thanks again :)

I sooooo understand that problem. My wife's "photo smile" is even more horrible; if you want a nice picture you have to surprise her or catch a candid.

(This is part of why I have so much admiration for studio and wedding photographers. You folks don't get to pick the greatest models; you're paid to get great shots of average people. It's enough to make a photographer switch to landscapes or macro!)

This is a great series. I love the one in the stadium. And then #6 is my second favorite. Well done, great compositions!

Yeah, the expression on #4 is not so great, it's his "photo smile" which looked a lot like a grimace at times.

Thanks so much for the C&C Kathy!
