I finally found my spider buddy before it got totally dark outside. She had moved her web about 20 feet on down on the side of the house. This was real nice of her as I still had enough light to focus.;)

C&C welcome.

Edit: This is not the same spider that I've been shooting.

It is nice of her to be so considerate. LOL!! I wish I could train more bugs and animals to be like this as they always seem to be in such difficult places. Lovely spider and pics Scott. I am hoping to get some nice ones of spiders this summer.

Thanks photogirl, I've been shooting her for the last three evenings. This is the first time I've got her when she wasn't eating, hence the title.
Plus the other shots I had to focus with the porchlight which changed her colors. Made her look like a redhead. She's pretty both ways to me.
I like the hairdo on her back half, and shes got a very nice marking on her belly also.

Got any pics? As she is so obliging maybe you could ask her to show her belly for you. LOL!! :D My favorite is the Golden Orb with its black and yellow markings. Unfortunately over the years I have concerntrated on wildlife and have not taken many spider or insect pics, so I am going to be catching up on them now.

I just figured out that this spider is not the same one.
I did catch the other one spinng up her web for the evening.
Give me a minute and I'll post a shot or 2 off the other one.

Here's the other one, She is spinng her web and moving very fast.
She would pause at each intersection of her web for about a second.

This is excellent!! She really has lovely markings!! Do you know what kind of spider it is? Spider webs are fascinating as eash species spins it in a different pattern. I love to see them when the erly morning light falls on them. Brilliant pictures you took here!!:D

I believe they are both Orb weavers, but I could be wrong.
Thanks for the compliments, I've been trying hard to get a good shot of them.

Edit: In the early morning the second one is always gone till night falls again.
The one in the first post, I'll find out what she does in the morning since I just found her.

Don't feel bad, all my friends know I'm a bit wierd.
My boss doesn't understand why I'm always outside when we're not busy, looking through the weeds for bugs.

I know the feeling!! People look at me strangly when I am combing the bushes for bugs. I wonder what they think I am doing...:D Sorry Scott but the pics on my site cannot be made bigger due to the fact that people were stealing and using them so they are very low size and pixels. Also I did it in Publisher which does not allow thumbnails to be made bigger. I am trying to find a program which will allow me to do the ones that show you a bigger pic when you put the mouse over it but we are a bit backward here in Africa and I cannot find one.:D
