I have a GretagMacbeth Eye-One Display 2 for monitor calibration. Recently I have felt that it's not doing it's job. To my eye (an unreliable judge, I am well aware) the calibrations look dodgy.

Is there a way I can test its accuracy? Any advice would be much appreciated.

What's dodgy about it?
In the link from my sig there are a few links to Q&D monitor test pages...

If you can see all shades of black and white, then it's doing it's job...

Thanks whowie, I downloaded and ran that. It gave my unit a pass.

But I'm still not convinced. The white points it gives me are very green. I've tried it on about half a dozen monitors recently, a mixture of CRT and LCD, PC and Mac.

No problems with seeing black & white points, etc. I think the profiling is ok, I'm just suspicious about the calibration. Is it possible for one to be faulty, and the other to be good?

Spyder2 is the best calibration device out there to be honest.

Thanks for that link! I'd never seen that program before, and it's just what I was looking for!

Eye One's definitely do die - I've just had to replace mine after it started adding a weird magenta shift in the midtones and a bizarre green shadows.

Hmmmm, ok, don't trust that diagnostics tool - I can vouch for the fact that 2 eye one's, one of which is definitely way off, both passed.

Thanks Victoria! It passed mine, but I still think it's dodgy.

Download a trial of this basICColor software, which is much more accurate than the software which comes with your puck, and use it with your dodgy Eye One. Then open PS and create a full screen black to white gradient. It's a pretty easy way of noticing weird colour casts, and they show up a lot more with the more accurate software.

Mine had a really green blocked band in the 3/4 tones where it just wasn't able to get accurate colour. The new one gives a perfect smooth grayscale throughout.
