One of Moscow views. I pictured it from veranda 14 floor of big home. Not good and not bad but you can see part of big town (Russia)

Hi, sorry man...but all of your pictures look washed out and out of focus to me. What's your setup?

Shimpu, what do you mean photo is washed out ?
Grass in first plan does not stand with far buildings - that's the mistake.
My next photos of cities from height I will make so 80% of picture will be
with buildings and the rest with sky and/or sea.

I agree, they seem to lack a little colour? Or something?

What is that thin black line going across it?

I mean there is no contrast, nor vivid colors in the image. Also the picture seems kinda' out of focus. What camera are you using?

Yosef, I am fairly new to digital photography and this forum but people here do (and should, I guess) expect a bit of post processing on posted photos.

Beyond that, it is an interesting view of a city I want to see one day. What is the dome down in front?

I ran your photo through Photoshop and was able, using Curves, to get the clouds whiter, sky more blue, the trees more green. Because of the position of the sun, there is a lot of red cast in the photo and curves helps to clear this up. I even did a bit of saturation enhancement to bring even more green out.

By using sharpening I was able to get more detail in the buildings. Sharpening makes the entire photo appear more in focus and brings out detail in contrast. You even get a sparkle off the dome, instead of just a bright spot.

It probably wouldn't hurt to remove the electrical cable using the cloning tool, as well.

Cropping the photo to create a subject, like the dome, would probably also help.

If you don't have access to Photoshop (I see you are a programmer, so you probably do!), there are a number of tools out there that do many of the same things. Some of them, like GIMP, are freeware, but it is harder to get instruction on how to use them.

I can't post my result from Photoshop because you have image editing turned off in your profile.

Not sure how much effect this would have on the light/coloring but; My girl friend lives in Moscow but is from Ettinburg ( not spelled right) and she said the air is so dirty and dusty it's hard to breathe and the water is brown.
