nice shots, could those ants be diseased and its taking them away from the colony?

These are REALLY interesting Toby. I often find myself wondering what these (and other) little creatures are up to when I am watching them.

all I know is at least one was still alive (just) after the healthy one had departed. Possibly one was an intruder that locked onto a guard and couldnt be shifted so both were got rid of.

Maybe these two tried to get down with the queen

(yes i no there female workers bu its a thought?)
