I just got my 40D and I know the new cross Type AF senors are suspose to be a big improvement. But guess I don't understand what a cross type sensor is.
Can someone explain

Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

How does this work when you select only 1 AF point, like the center one? Would that actually encompass the whole center circle? Regards,

But this camera is provided with the world first diagonal high-precision cross-type AF at center point with f/2.8 and faster lenses, (in blue in the picture). This is a novelty, so I have to assume that now the central point is sensitive to change in contrast in diagonal lines too ... when you use lenses with f/2.8 or faster ... that´s in improvement, but I don´t have a 40D and I can not explain how this can affect to central AF performance ... I have to assume that with f/2.8 lenses, the focus performance for the central AF point is increased ..... Cheers
