Well, i usually shoot skateboarding/glamour type of stuff...but my high school friend Efrain had his professional debut.

This was my first time shooting boxing, after 2 hours of searching and reading post's on POTN, i found Muls and Dwight's photos and was really impressed and inspired...

I wanted to rent a 24-70mm since i don't own one but i went ahead and shot i with the nifty fifty 50mm. I'm pleased with my results, although i wish i would of done a custom white balance as i read but neglected :/

Oh! i caught myself at one point just shooting randomly out of excitement during my friends fight...paused for a second and said to myself... "Self... you're not a spectator you're covering an event..." haha then started shooting again...

Nice Job,
Hopefully your friend wasn't the one that left 2 liters of blood in the ring.

A few odds and ends: you can put up to eight images in your first post in a thread rather than several separate posts with two each. It is only attached images that you upload that are limited to two. You should number the images. You should identify, by color of trunks who the boxers are. You should indicate the weight class and number of rounds and who won. The name of the venue and the date are also important. These guys work very hard and deserve the respect to have this information associated with their pictures. As you know you should do CWB. A nifty fifty or better yet a 50mm f/1.4 is a superb boxing lens ... several of the less affluent boxing 'togs use them and get super pictures. Always remember it is not the equipment but the photographer who captures the great images ... really, really ... shooting on the mat with Muls once will teach you that it is technique and timing ... you hear his shutter going off at just the right instant as yours goes off too soon or too late over and over and over ... really, really, it is NOT the equipment although it makes it easier.

I, too, am concerned that your friend had the bloody nose ... although I am quite aware that these things often look much worse than they are.

I think you did a great job with timing your captures.
