I've noticed after trying out the 40D it's very uncomfortable when my nose hits the LCD. Is it true you can modify the canon eyepiece extender to where there is no loss in the size of the viewfinder?

I didn't like the fact the piece of glass magnifies the VF by about 0.7 or something so I got rid of it.

The only tool you need is one of those small phillips screwdriver. There are 2 screws on the back and just remove those. One you open it, there is a small metal plate. Remove that and the two magnification pieces can be removed. The only thing I put back was the back plate and put the screws back. Make sure you tighten it so there is no play. If you don't tighten it well, it'll make a shaky noise so, make sure it's tightened.
