Well, had a good day with the camera today. One unknown type of wasp, a suspected wolf spider, a very nice hoverfly and now these wasps. Did spot some braconidae wasps as well, but were far too quick/nervous for me to get any decent shots. Also saw a HUGE flesh fly (must have been close to 15mm in length) but didn't manage to get a shot of it.

Hiya Dave,

Lovely shot, but there seems to still be an element of darkness as in some of your more resent shots  hope you dont mind ? I had a fiddle with the lighting in E5, Shadows/Highlights, lightened shadows @ 25% well that's the auto setting on my set-up just to see & it lifted the lighting well enough to see that wonderful eye, no criticism just an observation :D:D

Cheers for now
Mark

Really like the shot. The eye looks amazing. Was this with the 1d IIn?

Alistair.

Thanks guys - yes, the image looks dark as Brian has also pointed out. It also looked darker on my Dad's monitor last night when I uploaded them and also today, from the Library's LCD monitor. I'm going to try and recalibrate the monitor when I get home. The strange thing is the histogram looked fine for both this shot, and the hoverfly shots.

Yes, it has fantastic IQ as far as I'm concerned, but please remember I'm coming from an old 1D and D60 ;)

Lovely shot Dave :)- this one doesn't seem as dark as some of your recent ones but you can always get the problem where bright highlights skew the histogram.

Terrific detail.

Have to say it looks a touch dark to me as well. Hopefully it is your monitor

You're certainly getting full use out of that 1D. :D
